Checking Oil For All-Wheel Final Drive (Transmission Oil)

Danger of scalding
1. → Let the fluid cool down.
2. → Wear personal protective gear.

Information

Secure vehicle to prevent it rolling away.
To check transmission oil the vehicle must be horizontal.

Information

The transmission/final drive must be stopped for at least 15 minutes to allow for internal oil level adjustment.

Check oil for all-wheel final drive.
1. 1.1 Unscrew inspection plug and filler screw -3- .
2. 1.2 Soak up emerging oil with a cloth.
3. 1.3 Oil must come up to the lower edge of the inspection and filler bore.
4. 1.4 If the oil level is below the inspection and filler bore -3- , fill in oil for all-wheel final drive until it runs out of the inspection and filler bore.
5. 1.5 Fill in oil for all-wheel final drive.
  - WM, 399035 CHECKING AND TOPPING UP OIL FOR FINAL DRIVE
6. 1.6 Tighten inspection plug and filler screw -3- .
  - Tightening torque 60 Nm (44 ftlb.)
