Replacing Combination Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING: Combination sensor not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly 
  • Unexpected vehicle handling 
  • Combination sensor does not function 
  • Malfunction in combination sensor 

    → After installing or replacing the combination sensor, calibrate vehicle using PIWIS Tester.

    → Only perform calibration when the vehicle is positioned horizontally and the brake is not actuated.

Information 

The combination sensor is located under the centre console.

The functions listed below are integrated in the combination sensor:

  1. Disconnect air guide for centre console -1-  at the front of the heating/fresh-air unit and remove it.

  2. Remove combination sensor -1-  .

    Mounting for combination sensor

    1. 2.1 Release and disconnect electric connector -2-  .
    2. 2.2 Unscrew nuts -3-  .
  3. Fit combination sensor -1-  .

    Mounting for combination sensor

    1. 3.1 Position the combination sensor so that distance -X -  from combination sensor -1-  to airbag triggering unit -2-  is at least > Length 0.6 mm  .
    2. 3.2 Tighten nuts -3-  . > Tightening - torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 
    3. 3.3 Connect and lock electric connector -2-  .
  4. Fit air guide for centre console -1-  and connect it at the front of the heating/fresh-air unit.
