Installing Oil Guide Housing

Information

To prevent dirt from getting into the lubrication system, open parts of the engine must be covered.

Removing old sealant and sealant residue from the grooves and sealing faces on the oil guide housing and crankcase. For example, by using a rotating plastic brush > Cleaning sealing faces using a plastic brush.

Information

Sealing faces must be free of oil and grease.
Clean sealing faces of the oil guide hoi sing and crankcase.
Information

Check best-before date on the new sealant.
Cut off the nozzle on the tube at the front marking (nozzle diameter is approx. 2.5 mm) > Nozzle on tube.

Information
- The bead of sealant must not be thicker than the specified thickness because if it is, excess sealant can get into the oil pan and block the strainer in the oil pump.
- Sealant bead thickness: 3.0 mm.
- Components must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the sealant.
Apply a bead of sealant -1- to the clean sealing face of the oil guide housing -2- .

The help of another person is required.
Carefully fit oil guide housing and position it from below at an angle to the sealing face on the crankcase and lower chain housing cover.
Information

Observe specified tightening sequence.
Tighten screws on oil guide housing -20- .

1. 6.1 Screw in screws in the sequence -1 to 19- by hand.
2. 6.2 Tighten screws in sequence -1 to_9- .
  - Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
  - Final tightening + 90°

Secure lower chain housing cover to oil guide housing.

1. 7.1 Fit and tighten screws -1- .
  - Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
  - Final tightening + 90°
2. 7.2 Fit and tighten screws -2- .
  - Initial tightening 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
  - Final tightening + 90°

1. 8.1 Position wire harness -2- and clip in clips -3- .
