Removing Power-Steering Gear

Tie-rod ball on wheel bearing housing

1. 1.1 Unscrew nut -3-  as far as required on joint pin -4-  for tie-rod ball -1-  until it is flush with the upper edge of the joint pin -4-  .
2. 1.2 Press off joint pin -4-  for tie-rod ball -1-  using > T40010 - ball joint puller  .
3. 1.3 Unscrew nut -3-  from joint pin -4-  on the tie-rod ball -1-  , counter at the hexagon socket of the joint pin -4-  and remove tie-rod ball -1-  from the wheel bearing housing -2-  .

Disconnecting universal joint for steering column at the power-steering gear

1. 2.1 Unscrew screw on universal joint for steering column -3-  .
2. 2.2 Disconnect universal joint for steering column -1-  from the power-steering gear -2-  in -direction of arrow-  .

Anti-roll bar

1. 3.1 Unscrew nuts on anti-roll bar clamps -2-  and remove anti-roll bar clamps -3-  .
2. 3.2 Lower anti-roll bar -1-  and leave it at this position.

Power-steering gear

1. 4.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections for power-steering gear -2-  .
2. 4.2 Get another mechanic to support the power-steering gear -1-  .
3. 4.3 Unscrew power-steering gear screws -3-  and remove square nuts -4-  from front-axle carrier.
4. 4.4 Remove power-steering gear -1-  by pulling it downwards with the help of another mechanic.
