Installing Power-Steering Gear
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTIFICATION
Water can leak in if sealing elements are damaged.
- Component can become damaged or may not function.
→ Replace damaged sealing elements.
→ Check that sealing elements are fitted correctly.
- Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
- 1.1 Replace screws -3-
and square nuts -4-
.
Tighten new screws for power-steering gear -3- .
> Initial - tightening 80 Nm (59 ftlb.)
> Final tightening + 180°
Power-steering gear
- 1.2 Tighten nuts on anti-roll bar clamps -2-
.
> Tightening - torque 30 Nm (22.1 ftlb.)
Anti-roll bar
- 1.3 Replace screw on universal joint for steering column -3-
.
Tighten new screw on universal joint for steering column -3- .
> Initial - tightening 20 Nm (15 ftlb.) > Final tightening + 90°
Universal joint for steering column at the power-steering gear
- 1.4 Replace nut on tie-rod ball -3-
.
Tighten new nut on tie-rod ball -3- .
> Tightening - torque 100 Nm (74 ftlb.)
Tie-rod ball on wheel bearing housing
- 1.1 Replace screws -3-
and square nuts -4-
