Installing Tie-Rod Ball

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
    1. 1.1 Replace nut securing tie-rod ball to wheel bearing housing.
    2. 1.2 Tighten nut -3-  securing tie-rod ball -1-  to wheel bearing housing -2-  and counter at the hexagon socket of the joint pin -4-  .

      > Tightening - torque 100 Nm (74 ftlb.)

    3. 1.3 Tighten nut -3-  securing the tie-rod ball -1-  to the tie rod -2-  and counter at the tie-rod ball -1-  .

      > Tightening - torque 90 Nm (67 ftlb.)

  2. If installed on the vehicle: Fit new air guide -1-  with a new clamp -3-  on the tie rod.

    1. 2.1 Push air-guide -1-  onto the tie-rod ball from the front and check the position of the lock nut in the cut-out on the air guide -1-  .
    2. 2.2 Hook the top three locking lugs of the new clamp -3-  into the relevant cut-outs on the air guide -1-  .
    3. 2.3 Press the clamp -3 -  down as far as required using the cross-strut on the back of the clamp until the bottom two locking lugs engage.
    4. 2.4 Check the engagement of the clamps -3-  in the test lugs -2-  .
