Installing Steering-Gear Housing Bellows

Information
During fitting, make sure that the bellows is not twisted and that the clamp lugs are easy to reach with the pliers.
- Replace bellows and clamps.
- Fit new bellows with new clamps. Make sure it fits perfectly both on the steering-gear housing and on the tie rod.
Bellows
- 2.1 Push on bellows until you hear and feel it engaging securely on the tie rod.
Dimension -a- must be 2 mm.

- Install new spring band clamp -Arrow-

- 4.1 Observe tightening torques for > V. A. G 1682A - clamp tensioner

Clamp on passenger's side (diameter: 85 mm).
> Tightening - torque 7 Nm (5 ftlb.)
Clamp on driver's side (diameter: 59 mm).
> Tightening - torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
