Installing Intermediate Steering Shaft

through the passenger compartment -Arrow-

Intermediate steering shaft
Information
Always replace the clamping screw on the universal joint.
- Fit intermediate steering shaft -3-
on the steering column -1-
.
Mounting for steering column on intermediate steering shaft
- 2.1 Replace screw -2- .
- 2.2 Push intermediate steering shaft -3- as far as it will go onto the steering column -1- .
- 2.3 Fit and tighten new screw -2-
on the universal joint.
> Tightening - torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
- Fit sealing bellows -2-
as far as possible from the passenger compartment and position it.
Position of sealing bellows in passenger compartment
- 3.1 Position sealing bellows -2- with the arrow markings -1- straight up.
- Lock sealing bellows -1-
to the body from the underside of the vehicle.
Fitting sealing bellows on body (underside)
- 4.1 Pull sealing bellows -1- in through the opening.
- 4.2 Lock tabs on sealing bellows -1-
on the collar -2-
of the body.
Do not twist the sealing bellows.
- 4.3 Check installation position of the sealing bellows in the passenger compartment according to the arrow markings.
The arrow markings must be pointing straight up. Release, position and re-fit the sealing bellows if necessary.

on the steering gear -3-

Mounting for intermediate steering shaft on steering gear
- 5.1 Replace screw -2- .
- 5.2 Push intermediate steering shaft -1- as far as it will go onto the steering gear -3- .
- 5.3 Fit and tighten new screw -2-
on the universal joint.
> Tightening - torque 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)
