Removing Cylinder Head Cover

NOTIFICATION
Dirt and contamination
- Risk of damage to units or components
- → Protect components from dirt and contamination.
- → Clean or replace dirty components.
Information
- Open connections and lines must be closed off using suitable stoppers or caps.
- Release and pull off cable plug -1 and 2-
.
Cable plug for recirculating air valve and electronic adjuster
- Release and disconnect cable plug on hall sensor for outlet camshaft -2-
.

- Release and pull off cable plug -1, 2 and 3-
and unclip holder -4-

- Release and disconnect cable plug for temperature sensor

- Release and disconnect cable plug on tank vent valve -1-

- Unclip cable duct -1-
from the holder -Arrows-
and place engine wire harness put it aside.

- Detach tank vent valve -1-
with holder from cylinder head cover.

- 7.1 Unclip retaining clip -2- .
- 7.2 Unscrew screws -3- and set tank vent valve and holder aside.
- Transfer the markings onto the T40271 - camshaft clamp-1 and 2-
.

- 8.1 Mark sprockets for T40271 - camshaft clamp-1 and 2-Arrow- .
- Turn crankshaft 90° from "TDC" position.
- 9.1 Fit sprocket without timing chains on crankshaft.
- 9.2 Attach T10368 - pressure piece-1- using crankshaft pulley screw -Arrow- .
- 9.3 Turn the crankshaft on the crankshaft pulley screw -Arrow- 90° - from TDC position against the running direction of the engine.

- Move intake camshaft -2-
into rest position.
Secure the intake camshaft
- 10.1 T40266 - Screw adapter-3- into -direction of arrow A- .
- 10.2 T40271 - Camshaft clamp must be pushed in -direction of arrow B- . Then, move the camshaft to normal position.
- Move outlet camshaft -2-
into rest position.

- 11.1 T40266 - Screw adapter-3- into -direction of arrow A- .
- 11.2 T40271 - Camshaft clamp must be pushed in -direction of arrow B- . Then, move the camshaft to normal position.
- Remove cylinder head cover -7-
.
Cylinder head cover
- 12.1
Unscrew screws on cylinder head cover in the sequence -1 to 6-
.
- 12.1.1 Replace screws.
- 12.2 Remove cylinder head cover -7- .
- 12.3 Remove camshafts from the cylinder head.
Information
The sealing faces must be dry and free of oil and grease.

Unscrew screws on cylinder head cover in the sequence -1 to 6-
.
- Clean sealing faces on the cylinder head cover and cylinder head using a special plastic brush for drills to remove residual sealant.
