External Power Connection, Jump-Lead Starting

WARNING:
Live jump leads
- Risk of electric shock
- Risk of short circuit
- → Route the jump leads so that they do not become entangled in moving parts in the engine compartment.
- → There must be no contact between the vehicles.
NOTIFICATION
Using charging cables/jump leads directly on the vehicle battery.
- Risk of damage to battery sensor
- → Always connect charging cables/jump leads to the external power supply for jump-lead starting.
Information
- If the battery is flat, jump leads can be used together with the battery of another vehicle to start the car or to supply external power to the vehicle.
Both batteries must be 12 V batteries.
The capacity (Ah) of the donor battery must not be significantly lower than that of the flat battery.
The flat battery must be connected correctly to the vehicle electrical system.

- Connect the positive cable to the positive terminal for jump-lead starting -1-
first, then to the positive terminal of the donor battery.

- Connect the negative cable to the negative terminal of the donor battery first, then to the ground point for jump-lead starting -2-

Jump-start point
- Leave the engine of the vehicle supplying the power running at higher revs.
- Start the engine. Try to start the vehicle using jump leads for max. 15 seconds, then wait at least one minute before trying again.
- Disconnect the two jump leads in reverse order when the engine is running.
- Close protective cover on the positive terminal for jump-lead starting -1-.
