Replacing Vehicle Electrical System Battery

- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
- → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
- → Connect a battery charger with a currant rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Information
The AGM (A bsorbent G lass M at) battery is a maintenance-free, sealed battery.
Serial number and part number on battery
| The AGM battery must not be opened. If the AGM battery is opened, it must be replaced. |
| A serial number -A- and part number -B- is - shown on the AGM battery. |
| The serial number, part number, battery capacity and battery manufacturer must be written to the gateway control unit following replacement of the AGM battery. |
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if required.
- Select the Gateway control unit in the overview. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
- Maintenance/repairs must now be selected.
- Replace battery
must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
Follow the instructions on the Tester.
- Enter the battery capacity.
- Enter the type of battery (e.g. AGM).
- Enter the serial number (incl. spaces) of the battery.
- Enter the part number (excl. index) of he battery.
- Press F8 to write values.
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
