Replacing Rear Silencer

CAUTION:
Hot components
- Risk of burns
- → Let hot components cool down.
- → Wear personal protective gear.
- Support rear silencer using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack and secure with a tension strap.
- Unscrew screws on rear silencer holder -1-
.
Threaded joint on rear silencer holder
- Cut exhaust pipes -1- .
- Lower the rear silencer on > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .
- Convert retaining rubbers -1- .
- Remove old rear silencer from > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack , position new rear silencer on > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack and secure with a tension strap.
- Slide new clamp onto the exhaust pipe on the new rear silencer.
- Install rear silencer -1-
.
- 8.1 Move rear silencer -1- into installation position.
- 8.2 Slide clamp -2- onto exhaust pipes at the vehicle side and align it so that the threaded joint is not lower than the exhaust pipe.
- 8.3
Screw in and tighten screws on rear silencer holder -3-
.
- Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- 8.4 Tighten screws on clamp -2- .
- > VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack must now be removed.
