Replacing Crankshaft Sealing Ring (Flywheel Side)

Information 

After fitting the sealing ring, leave the silicone sealant to dry for 30 minutes.

Engine oil must not be filled in until the sealing compound has been allowed to dry for the specified time.

1. Unhook the intermediate plate -1-  at the crankshaft sealing ring and at the fitting sleeves -Arrows-  and remove it.

2. Remove crankshaft sealing ring -1-  .

   Sealing ring for crankshaft

   1. 2.1  Unscrew screws -2 to 9-  .
   2. 2.2  Remove crankshaft sealing ring -1-  .
3. Remove any residual sealant on the cylinder block using a flat scraper.
4. Clean sealing faces to remove any oil and grease.

   Information 

   T10122/6A - The guide piece  must not be sharp-edged or dirty.

5. Slide new  crankshaft sealing ring -1-  onto the T10122/6A - guide piece-2-  .

   1. 5.1  Fit assembly aid T10122/1 -3-  on the T10122/6A - guide piece-2-  .
   2. 5.2  Push crankshaft sealing ring -1-  with the outer flange first onto the T10122/6A - guide piece-2-  up to the anchor block.
   3. 5.3  Remove T10122/1 -3-  assembly aid.
6. Cut off nozzle on tube of silicone sealant at the front marking so that the nozzle diameter is approx. 2 mm.

   Information 

   The sealing ring must be fitted within 5 minutes of applying the silicone sealant.

7. Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing face. Make sure that the thickness of the bead of sealant is 2 to 3 mm. Sealant on crankshaft sealing ring

8. Position crankshaft sealing ring -1-  .

   1. 8.1  Fit crankshaft sealing ring -1-  with T10122/6A - guide piece-2-  on the crankshaft journal -3-  .
   2. 8.2  Screw in screws -4-  to secure the system. Tightening is not necessary.
   3. 8.3  Slide crankshaft sealing ring -1-  over T10122/6A - guide piece-2-  in -Arrow direction-  until the sealing flange is touching the crankshaft housing. Be careful of the centering collar -5-  at the left and right.
9. Secure crankshaft sealing ring -1-  .

   1. 9.1  Screw in new  screws as far as they will go by hand -2 to 9-  .
   2. 9.2  Remove T10122/6A - guide piece  .
   3. 9.3  Tighten new screws  in sequence -2 to 9-  .
10. Check that the sealing lip is seated correctly on the crankshaft sealing ring, making sure that the sealing lip is facing the engine.
11. Hook the intermediate plate -1-  onto the crankshaft sealing ring and the fitting sleeves -Arrows-  .
