Checking Coolant Reservoir Cap For Leaks

WARNING: Hot fluid 
  • Danger of scalding 
    1. → Avoid contact with hot fluid.
    2. → Wear personal protective gear.
  1. Unscrew coolant expansion tank carefully -1-  .

    Tester on coolant reservoir cap

    1. 2.1 V. A. G 1274B - Place cooling system tester  with V. A. G 1274B/15 - adapter for cooling system tester  on the coolant expansion tank cap.
    2. 2.2  Use V. A. G 1274B - cooling system tester  to create overpressure of about 2 bar  .
    3. 2.3  Check the pressure:

      The overpressure must drop to 1.8 to 1.6 bar  and stay at this level.

    4. 2.4  If the overpressure does not behave as described:

      Replacing the cap on the coolant expansion tank.

  3. Remove special tool and screw on coolant reservoir cap -1-  securely.
