Preliminary Work
Information
On vehicles with air suspension, set the chassis height to Normal level (MEDIUM HEIGHT).
Information
Check that there is sufficient floor space between the vehicle and the adjustment device - the gap between the adjustment device and vehicle must be 1200 mm.
Once the vehicle and adjustment device are aligned, the vehicle and adjustment device must no longer be moved.
- Set vehicles with air suspension to normal level.
- Perform initial suspension alignment.
- Set up adjustment device > VAS 6430/1A - Setting device with reflector with > VAS 6430/3 - ACC reflective mirror and align it parallel to the vehicle transverse axis.
- Distance -A-
between setting device and vehicle must be 1200 mm.
Measuring system setup
- On the setting device, move the reflector to position -2-
in alignment with the marking (the number 2 on the rotary knob must point towards the vehicle).
Position 2 of adjustment device
- Align and balance >
VAS 6430/1A - setting device with reflector
using the spirit levels.
Aligning measuring system
- Use the crank on the setting device to adjust the height of the reflector so that the laser beam (for switching on the laser beam > > see operating instructions for setting device) strikes the centre of the mirror in the sensor lens on the vertical line.
- Unclip cover on sensor and remove it.
Removing trim cover on distance measuring sensor control unit
- Clean sensor and cover using commercially available cleaner.
