Removing Rear Brake CALLIPER

WARNING: Danger of injury and damage from brake fluid! 
  • Poisonous if swallowed! 
  • Irritation and damage to skin 
  • Avoid contact with paint surfaces 
    1. → Store brake fluid in suitable, labelled containers only
    2. → Wear protective gloves and goggles
    3. → In the event of contact (eyes or skin), wash immediately with water
    4. → In the event of contact with paint surfaces, wash off immediately with water - do not wipe off

NOTIFICATION 

Removal of brake calliper 

Information 

If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back.

  1. Use the PIWIS Tester  to move the electric parking brake (EPB) into the assembly position. 
    1. 1.1 Select Parking brake  in the control unit overview.
    2. 1.2 In the Maintenance/repairs  menu, select the function assembly position. 
    3. 1.3 Follow the instructions on the Tester.
  2. Have suitable containers ready for catching emerging brake fluid.
  3. Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off the line connections.
  4. Release and disconnect cable plug on rpm sensor -1-  .

    Information 

    Collect emerging brake fluid.

    Information 

    • Do not use an impact bolter. 
  5. Remove rear brake calliper -1-  .

    Rear brake calliper

    1. 5.1 Release and disconnect cable plug -2-  .
    2. 5.2 Disconnect brake line -3-  on rear brake calliper -1-  and set it aside.
    3. 5.3 Close off connection openings using stoppers.
    4. 5.4 Unscrew and replace brake calliper screws -4-  .
    5. 5.5 Remove rear brake calliper -1-  .
