Installing Camshafts

1. 1.1  Insert camshafts -2-  into the camshaft bearing frame at the required positions.

   Make sure that the gaps on the plain compression rings -5-  are facing up or down, never to the side.

   Make sure that the plain bearing -1-  is fitted as far as it will go against the cylinder head cover.

   Make sure that the thrust washer -6-  is inserted.

2. 1.2  Make sure that each camshaft bearing cover -4-  is fitted with two tensioning sleeves -3-  .

   Positioning camshafts

1. 2.1  Position camshaft bearing covers -1 to 4-  according to the marking. Marking for camshaft bearing covers  Make sure that the tensioning sleeves engage in the bores of the cylinder head cover.

1. 3.1  Replace camshaft bearing cover screws -Arrows-  .
2. 3.2  Fit and tighten new  camshaft bearing cover screws -Arrows-  .

> Tightening - torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)

Camshaft bearing covers

Information 

The camshaft clamp must be easy to insert and must not be fitted using a striking tool. 

1. 4.1  Align camshafts -1-  and insert T40331 - camshaft clamp  /1,/4 and/5  with the inscription "A" facing away from the engine.
2. 4.2  Secure T40331 - camshaft clamp  /1,/4 and/5  with T40331 - camshaft clamp  /9. 
3. 4.3  Screw in T40331 - camshaft clamp  /9  by hand.
4. 4.4  Tighten screws on the camshaft clamp -2-  to 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.).
