Replacing PDK Transmission Control Unit

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Select the vehicle type if required.
  3. Select the PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung)  control unit in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F12  to continue.
  4. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  5. Automatic programming  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  6. Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester. Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
  7. The Tester displays the message: Programming was completed successfully. Press F12 to continue.
  8. Go back to the overview.
  9. Press F7 in the overview to select the Additional menu. 
  10. Engine immobiliser start-up  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  11. Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester. Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
  12. The Tester displays the message: Engine immobiliser start-up completed successfully.
  13. Read out all fault memories  and erase them if necessary.
  14. Go back to the overview.
  15. Select the PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung)  control unit in the overview.
  16. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
    WARNING: The vehicle can move automatically while you are calibrating the transmission control unit (PDK).
    • The raised vehicle can fall from the lifting platform.
    • Danger of crushing.
    • Risk of damage to or from objects.

      → During calibration, the brake pedal must be blocked using a commercially available brake pedal lock.

      → The parking brake must be engaged.

      → The vehicle must not be raised and must be standing on its wheels.

  17. Calibration  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  18. Calibration after replacing mechatronics (hydraulics and control unit) must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
  19. Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester. Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
  20. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  21. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
  22. Lock, open and start the vehicle using all remote controls.
