Installing Support

Information

Do not apply lateral forces to the selector knob pull rod as it can break off.

Install selector support -3-

Selector support and locking cable
1. 1.1 Guide locking cable -2- into selector support -3- and engage safety clip
2. 1.2 Position selector support -3- .
Install heat shield -1- .

1. 2.1 Position heat shield
2. 2.2 Tighten clamping washers -2- .
Secure transmission support -2- .

Transmission support
1. 3.1 Lift transmission and transmission support using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack .
2. 3.2 Fit and tighten screws -1 and 3- .
  > Tightening - torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
3. 3.3 > VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack must now be removed.
  Information
  - Loosen clamping screw for locking cable by only about 1 turn.
  - The clamping screw is only accessible in selector-lever position "P".
  - When the clamping screw is loosened, the selector lever must remain in position "P".

Secure selector support.

4.1 Position selector support.
4.2 Fit and tighten nuts -4- .
> Tightening - torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
4.3 Tighten clamping screw -1- for locking cable using > T40031 - socket insert a/f 5 .
> Tightening - torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

4.4 Press release -3- , actuate selector knob -2- and move selector lever from position "P" to "D" and from position "D" to "M" and back again several times.

2. 5.2 Connect and lock cable plug -2- .
