Supporting Engine On The Body (Engine Safety Device)

  • Risk of squashing or crushing 
    1. → Secure components to prevent them from falling down.

Information 

A unit lift, such as > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack  or > VAS 6931 - Transmission and Engine Jack  with > VAS 6867 - Mounting Plate  , can also be used to support the raised vehicle while you are working.

Information 

The engine must be supported on the body in order to remove the front axle, oil guide housing, oil pump or similar components.

  1. Prepare engine safety device.
    1. 1.1  > T40091/50-51 - Fit supports  on the > T40091/54-/55 - engine safety device supplement  and > T40091/54-/55 - engine safety device supplement. 
    2. 1.2  > T40091/50-51 - Fit supports  with the > T40091/54-/55 - engine safety device supplement  and > T40091/54-/55 - engine safety device supplement  on the spring strut domes.
  2. Position tools on the longitudinal member.

    Longitudinal member

    1. 2.1  Position > T40093/51 - adjustable foot-1-  on the left  longitudinal member.
    2. 2.2  Position > T40093/50 - foot-1 -  on the right  longitudinal member.
  3. > T40093/3P - Screw in the support-2-  on the > T40093/51 - adjustable foot-5-  and > T40093/50 - foot-1-  and move them to the same height.

    Tools on the body

  4. Mount > T40091/1 - pipes-1-  on supports.

    Pipe on support

    1. 4.1  Push the > T40091/1 - pipe-1-  at both ends through the > T40093/3P - support  as far as the middle.
    2. 4.2  Push on the > T40091/1 - connectors-1-  at both ends of the two > T40091/3 - pipes-3-  .
    3. 4.3  Push the > T40091/1 - pipe-1-  through up to the > T40091/50-51 - support-4-  .
  5. Insert the > 10-222A - safety device-1-  together with the spindle -2-  crosswise into the > T40091/3 - connectors.

  6. Support the engine.

    Lifting tackle

    1. 6.1  > 3033 - Secure the lifting tackle-3-  to the spindle of the > 10-222A - support bracket-1-  .
    2. 6.2  Attach > 10-222A - support bracket-1-  at the fastening points -2 and 4-  of the engine and pre-tension slightly.
