Preliminary Work

  1. Disconnect the battery.
    • 270619 Removing and installing vehicle electrical system battery 
  2. Move bonnet into service position.
    • 552213 Securing front lid (service position) 
  3. Remove engine cover (design cover).
    • 108319 Removing and installing engine cover (design cover) 
  4. Remove air cleaner housing.
    • 242519 Removing and installing air cleaner housing (V6 Turbo) 
  5. Remove torque support.
    • 103719 Removing and installing torque support (V6 Turbo) 
  6. Disconnect pressure hose at the throttle housing.
    • 244219 Removing and installing throttle housing 
  7. Remove DME control unit.
    • 247019 Removing and installing DME control unit 
  8. Remove front strut.
    • 408619 Removing and installing front strut 
  9. Remove cowl panel cover.
    • 508719 Removing and installing cowl panel cover 
  10. Remove filler neck from the washer-fluid reservoir.
    • 926019 Removing and installing windscreen-washer reservoir 
  11. Remove front wheels.
    • 440519 Removing and installing wheel 
  12. Remove front wheel housing liners.
    • 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner 
  13. Loosen front brake callipers and hang them at a suitable position.
    • 473909 Loosening and securing front brake calliper 
  14. Only for vehicles with PCCB brakes: 

    Remove front PCCB brake discs.

    • 465119 Removing and installing front PCCB brake disc 
  15. Drain coolant.
    • 193817 Draining and filling coolant (V6 Turbo) 
  16. Remove rear cardan shaft.
    • 393519 Removing and installing rear cardan shaft 
  17. Remove front underbody cover.
    • 519219 Removing and installing cover for front underbody 
  18. Disconnect pressure hose on charge-air cooler.
    • 214319 Removing and installing charge-air cooler 
  19. Remove air-conditioning compressor.
    • 873419 Removing and installing air-conditioning compressor 
  20. Disconnect ATF cooling line at the connection point.
    • 386219 Removing and installing line for ATF cooling (V6 Turbo) 
  21. Loosen locking cable on transmission side.
    • 371319 Removing and installing locking cable 
  22. Only if the double clutch transmission must be removed: 

    Remove power-steering gear.

    • 489019 Removing and installing power-steering gear
