Replacing TPM Control Unit

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Risk of irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Risk of damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Coding in the control unit is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming 

    → Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

    → Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

    → Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester. 

  1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition. Press F12 to continue.
  2. Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
  3. Select the required control unit, i.e. Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM)  in the overview  .
  4. Maintenance/repairs  must then be selected.
  5. Control unit replacement  must now be selected. Then press F12.
  6. Read data  must now be selected. Then press F12.
  7. Follow the instructions on the Tester.
  8. Switch off ignition and replace control unit.

    Press F12 to continue.

  9. Switch on ignition and press F12 to continue. The data that was read out is installed.
  10. The System Tester displays the message Coding has been completed successfully  . Press F12 to continue.
  11. Message displayed on Tester: Wheel IDs must be received once by the new control unit  . Release the air on all four wheels for 5 seconds.
  12. Teach wheel IDs without driving  must be selected, then press F12.
  13. Wheel IDs unknown  . Press F12.
  14. Follow the instructions on the Tester and press F12. Reduce the respective tyre pressure for approx. 5 seconds as instructed by the Tester and follow the instructions.
  15. Adapt tyre pressure according to specifications.
  16. Select Automatic coding  in the Coding/adaptation  menu and press F12.
  17. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  18. Return to the control unit overview. 
  19. Check the TPM function during the test drive.
