Installing Vibration Damper

Information 

The thread on the crankshaft flange must be free of oil and grease and must not be lubricated.

  1. Clean the thread on the crankshaft flange.
  2. Check vibration damper.
    1. 2.1  Check that the dowel pin is installed and is not damaged.
    2. 2.2  Visually inspect the vibration damper.
  3. Install vibration damper -1-  .
    1. 3.1  Fit vibration damper -1-  on the crankshaft in such a way that the dowel pin engages in the relevant cut-out.
    2. 3.2  Screw in new  screws for vibration damper -2-  by hand and lock the vibration damper with > 9595/1 - locating pin  .
    3. 3.3  Tighten screws on vibration damper -2-  using > 9768 - Electronic torque wrench, 2 - 100 N.m (1.5 - 74 ft lb.)  in diagonally opposite sequence.

      > Initial tightening 10 N.m (7.5 ft lb.) 

      > Final tightening torque angle + 90° 

    4. 3.4  > 9595/1 - Locating pin  must then be removed.
