Assembling Crankshaft
- Assemble new connecting-rod bearing shells according to the bearing shell allocation marking -2-
.

1 Allocation of main bearings for upper crankshaft 2 Allocation of connecting-rod bearing R Bearing shell with red colour marking RHD vehicle Bearing shell with blue colour marking W Bearing shell with yellow colour marking - Fit new connecting-rod bearing shells -3-
in connecting rod caps -2-
and connecting rods -1-
according to connecting-rod bearing allocation.
Connecting-rod bearing shells
3 Install connecting rods for cylinders 1-3 -1- .
- 3.1 Fit connecting rod caps and connecting rods for the cylinders on the crankshaft in accordance with the cylinder allocation.
- 3.2 The data matrix code marking -2- must be facing the outlet side for all connecting rods.
- 3.3 Marking points -3- must be facing the flywheel side for all connecting rods.

Fit and tighten new screws -4-
.
Step 1: > Initial tightening 5 N.m (3.5 ft lb.)
Step 2: > Subsequent tightening torque 16 N.m (12 ft lb.)
Step 3: > Tightening torque 20 N.m (15 ft lb.)
Step 4: > Torque angle + 80°
Step 5: > Loosen screws - 360°
Step 6: > Initial tightening 5 N.m (3.5 ft lb.)
Step 7: > Subsequent tightening torque 16 N.m (12 ft lb.)
Step 8: > Tightening torque 20 N.m (15 ft lb.)
Step 9: > Torque angle + 80° +/- 3°
Connecting rod markings
- Remove crankshaft from > P209a - retainer plate
.
- 4.1 Unscrew screws from > P209a - retainer plate and remove crankshaft.
- Insert timing chains -1 to 3- on the crankshaft -4- .
