Removing Oil Pan (Upper Part)

1. Remove coolant pipe -1-  .
   1. 1.1  Unscrew screw -2-  .
   2. 1.2  Unscrew screw -3-  .
   3. 1.3  Loosen spring band clamp -4-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamps pliers  .
   4. 1.4  Disconnect coolant hose -5-  from coolant pipe -1-  .
   5. 1.5  Disconnect coolant pipe -1-  from thermostat housing -6-  .
   6. 1.6  Catch escaping coolant and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
   7. 1.7  Replace O-rings.

2. Remove coolant guide -1-  .
   1. 2.1  Unscrew screws -2 and 3-  and remove coolant guide -1-  .
   2. 2.2  Collect emerging coolant.
   3. 2.3  Replace seals.

3. Disconnect wiring harness for oil pump control valve -1-  .
   1. 3.1  Release and disconnect electric plug connection -3-  .
   2. 3.2  Unclip retaining clip -4-  .
   3. 3.3  Unclip electric line -5-  from the bracket -6-  .
   4. 3.4  Guide wiring harness for oil pump control valve -1-  out of the oil pan (upper part) -2-  and set it aside.

4. Remove oil pan (upper part) -24-  .
   1. 4.1  Unscrew screws on line bracket -23-  .
   2. 4.2  Unscrew screws in the sequence -1 to 22-  .
   3. 4.3  Remove oil pan (upper part) -24-  .

5. Remove seals on upper part of oil pan -1 to 3-  .
   1. 5.1  Clean sealing surfaces.
