Installing Spring Strut, Rear
Information
Position of suspension/stabilizer on anti-roll bar
- Fit connecting links (suspension/stabilizer) in the central position on the anti-roll bar.
- Install spring strut with wheel carrier.
- 1.1 Insert spring strut into the wheel carrier.
- 1.2 Align the spring strut in such a way that the threaded pin -1-
next to the piston rod -2-
is flush with the shock-absorber pipe clamp -3-
.

- 1.3 Insert connecting link (suspension/stabilizer) -3-
and screw on collar nut -5-
(do not tighten).

- 1.4 Insert clamping screw -2- and fit collar nut -6- (do not tighten).
- 1.5 Move spring strut into installation position in the wheel housing and fit and tighten collar nuts -1- on the spring-strut mount at the top.

> Tightening torque 33 N.m (24.3 ft lb.)
- Fit drive shaft on the wheel carrier.
- 2.1 Check drive shaft.
Note the following before installing the drive shaft:
Check inner/outer bellows and replace if necessary.
Grease the drive shaft toothing with Optimoly HT.
- 2.2 Insert the drive shaft into the wheel carrier and fit the new axle nut (drive-shaft bolt on wheel bearing housing).
- 2.1 Check drive shaft.
- Install toe control arm and trailing arm.
- 3.1 Fit toe control arm -2- and trailing arm -5- on the wheel carrier and tighten collar nut -1- and bolt -4- .

Collar nut on toe control arm: > Tightening torque 85 N.m (62.7 ft lb.)
Axle guide screw: > Tightening torque 120 N.m (88.5 ft lb.)
- Secure the anti-roll bar.
- 4.1 Insert connecting link -2- into the anti-roll bar and fit and tighten collar nut -1- .
Securing stabilizer
> Initial tightening 40 N.m (29.5 ft lb.) > Final tightening + 30°
- Tighten screws securing spring strut to wheel carrier.

- 5.1 Loosen collar nuts -5 and 6- .
- 5.2 Insert spring strut -1- to the anchor block (do not twist!) and into the wheel carrier.
- 5.3 Tighten collar nut -5-

> Initial tightening 50 N.m (36.9 ft lb.) > Final tightening + 180°
- 5.4 Tighten collar nut -6-
.
> Initial tightening 50 N.m (36.9 ft lb.) > Final tightening + 180°
Information
- Brake calliper screws can always be re-used if no damage can be identified.
- Replace damaged bolts.
- Observe different tightening specifications!
- Install rear brake calliper with line bracket.
- 6.1 Fit brake calliper together with the holder and fit and tighten screws -Arrows-

- 6.2 When re-using the screws: > Tightening torque 85 N.m (62.7 ft lb.)
- 6.3 Initial tightening for new screws: > Initial tightening 30 N.m (22.1 ft lb.) > Final tightening + 75°
- 6.4 Screw in and tighten screws -6-

> Tightening torque 10 N.m (7.5 ft lb.)

- 6.5 Connect and lock electric plug connection for speed sensor -3- .
- 6.6 Plug in and lock electric plug connection for PASM -4- and clip in cable retainer -5- at the holder -7- .
- 6.7 Plug in and lock electric plug connection for electric parking brake (EPB) -1- and clip the line into the cable retainer -2- .
- 6.1 Fit brake calliper together with the holder and fit and tighten screws -Arrows-
.
- Install brake-disc air guide.
Brake-disc air guide on trailing arm: > Tightening torque 3.2 N.m (2.4 ft lb.)
