Preliminary Work

  1. Loosen axle nut (drive shaft to wheel bearing housing). Also apply the brake (2nd mechanic required) while the vehicle is stationary on the ground.
  2. Raise the vehicle.

    > 4X00IN Lifting the vehicle - section on "LIFTING AND LOWERING ".

  3. Removing rear wheel.

    > 440519 REMOVE AND INSTALL WHEEL - section on "Removing".

    GT4 RS/RS Spyder: 

    > 440519 Removing and installing wheel with central bolt - section on "REMOVING ".

    For vehicles with PCCB brake discs, use assembly aids (two assembly pins).

  4. Remove rear cover.

    > the appropriate Remove and install rear cover service information - section on "Removing".
