Installing Rear Disc Brake Pads
Information
- The back of the pad backing plates must not be greased.
- Check the brake discs for wear.
> 4600TW TECHNICAL DATA/BRAKE WEAR LIMIT .
- Disc brakes must be clean and free of grease.
- The core of the warning contact wire must not be left exposed! It does not matter if the insulation is worn.
- If necessary, remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir by suction in order to prevent an overflow when the disc brake pads are pushed back.
- Observe specified tightening torques.
- Insert new pad retaining springs.WARNING: Installation of brake pads with the wrong brake pad quality
- Longer braking distance
- More wear on brake pads
→ Only use the type-specific brake pads listed in the Porsche Spare Parts Information.
→ Replace the brake pads when the brake pad wear warning light comes on, but no later than when there is a residual pad thickness of 2 mm on each axle.
→ Replace the brake discs on each axle as soon as the brake disc wear limit is reached.
- Insert disc brake pads in reverse order to removal -Arrow-

- Install brake calliper -1-

Check that the brake hoses are routed correctly (do not twist the brake hose).

- 3.1 Tighten screws.
- 3.1.1 When re-using the screws: > Tightening torque 85 N.m (62.7 ft lb.)
- 3.1.2 For new screws (initial tightening): > Initial tightening 30 N.m (22.1 ft lb.) > Final tightening + 75°
- Install cables -2-
and contacts -3-

- 4.1 Fit contacts for -3- brake pad wear indicator on the brake pads.
- 4.2 Insert cable into the guide on the brake calliper -Arrow- .
- 4.3 Connect cable plug -2- for brake pad wear indicator and clip it in at the holder.
- Position disc brake pads by operating the brake several times.
- Check brake fluid level and correct it if necessary.
The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX markings > Min/Max markings for brake fluid .
