Removing Rear Tension Rope

Information 

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

Installation position of rear tension rope

1. Remove rear convertible top lock.

   Removing rear lock

   1. 1.1 Drill out rivets -1-  on the rear convertible top lock -2-  .
   2. 1.2 Pull out convertible top lock -2-  in direction of arrow -A-  .
2. Disengage rear tension rope from rear convertible top lock.

   Disengaging rear tension rope

   1. 2.1 Remove adhesive strip -1-  .
   2. 2.2 Fold end of tension rope -2-  up in direction of arrow -A-  and guide it out of the convertible top lock in direction of arrow -B-  .
3. Guide out tension rope.

   Guiding out rear tension rope

   1. 3.1 Secure a cord to the end of the tension rope -1-  .
   2. 3.2 Pull tension rope -1-  on the opposite side out of the convertible top channel -2-  and pull in the cord at the same time.

Information 

The tension rope can be pulled in during installation using the cord.
