Disassembling Convertible Top Covering
Information
Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.
- Pull fold placer cord -1-
out of the channel -2-
and eyelets -3-
in direction of arrow -A-
.
Removing fold placer cord
- Remove rear convertible top lock.
Removing rear lock
- 2.1 Drill out rivets -1- on the rear convertible top lock -2- .
- 2.2 Pull out convertible top lock -2- in direction of arrow -A- .
- Disengage rear tension rope from rear convertible top lock.
Disengaging rear tension rope
- 3.1 Remove adhesive strip -1- .
- 3.2 Fold end of tension rope -2- up in direction of arrow -A- and guide it out of the convertible top lock in direction of arrow -B- .
- Guide out tension rope.
Guiding out rear tension rope
- 4.1 Secure a cord to the end of the tension rope -1- .
- 4.2 Pull tension rope -1- on the opposite side out of the convertible top channel -2- and pull in the cord at the same time.
- Disengage tension rope from rear convertible top lock.
Disengaging inner tension rope at the sides
- 5.1 Pull off adhesive strips -1- .
- 5.2 Press end of tension rope -2- up in direction of arrow -A- and guide it out of the convertible top lock in direction of arrow -B- .
Information
The tension rope can be pulled in during installation using the cord.
- Guide out inner tension rope at the sides.

- 6.1 Secure the cord -2- to the tension rope -1- .
- 6.2 Guide end of tension rope -1- out in direction of arrow -A- .
- 6.3 Guide end of tension rope -3- out in direction of arrow -B- .
- 6.4 Press convertible top covering -4- aside in direction of arrow -C- .
- 6.5 Guide ends of tension rope -1, 3 and 5- downward and pull them out.
- Pull front roof strut -1-
and rear roof strut -2-
to the side and out of the convertible top covering -3-
