Removing Convertible Top Covering

Information 

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

Information 

The convertible top must be moved to various positions in order to gain the best possible access to the fitting areas shown below.

Installation position of convertible top covering

1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  and remove retaining strip -2-  .

2. Loosen retaining strip on convertible top covering -1-  at the front edge. -arrow-

3. Drill out front side rivets -1-  for convertible top covering.

4. Disengage locking ball -2-  and guide tension rope -1-  out of the roof frame.

5. Drill out rivets for rear strap -1-  from the passenger compartment.

6. Drill out rivets -1-  for convertible top covering at the sides.

7. Fold up convertible top covering and drill out rivets -1-  for rear roof strut.

   Loosening convertible top covering on the inside

   1. 8.1 Drill out rivets on roof strut -1-  and convertible top frame -2-  .
9. Unscrew and remove fastening screw for front roof strut -3-  .
10. Fold convertible top covering forward and drill out rivets for tension rope -1-  .

12. Drill out rivets on the rear roof frame -1-  , remove retaining strip -2-  and remove convertible top rooflining -3-  .

14. Remove convertible top covering including front and rear roof struts with the help of another person.
