Installing Front Backrest Cover

Information 

Always replace fastening clamps.

Information 

Make sure not to scratch any visible areas of the seat backrest when removing and installing the fastening clamps.

Only complete the following step on the outside of the seat. Check that the fastening clamps are at the exact positions required. 

1. Replace fastening clamps -1-  on the top of the seat shell.

   Dimension A > Length 20 mm 

   Dimension B > Length 55 mm

   Only complete the following step on the side facing the centre of the vehicle. 

2. Replace fastening clamps -1-  on the bottom of the seat shell -2-  .

3. Secure the cover at the top.

   Top cover

   1. 3.1  Align the cover -1-  with the reinforcement -2-  on the seat shell according to the hole pattern.
   2. 3.2  Clip in fixing clip -3-  from the centre outwards -Arrows-  .
4. Install mounting for belt feed-through element.

   Bowden cable

   1. 4.1  Engage Bowden cable -1-  in the seat shell -Arrow A-  .
   2. 4.2  Secure Bowden cable -1-  to the fixing device with felt adhesive tape. -Arrow B- 
   3. 4.3  Install padding -2-  . -Arrow- 
5. Fold backrest cover -1-  over the padding -Arrows-  and align it.

6. Press joint on cover -1-  into the seat shell -Arrows-  and secure it by tapping gently (with a plastic hammer).

7. Position cover on the inside.

   Inner cover

   1. 7.1  Engage reinforcement -3-  in the bracket -4-  in the side airbag area.
   2. 7.2  Align cover -2-Arrows-  and press on Velcro fasteners -1-  .
8. Secure bowden cable at the belt feed-through element.

   Bowden cable belt feed through

   1. 8.1  Guide bowden cable -1-  through the cover.
   2. 8.2  Position cover under the belt feed-through element -2-  all the way around. -Arrow A- 
   3. 8.3  Insert bowden cable -1-  through the opening -Arrow B-  on the belt feed-through element -2-  .
9. Secure the bowden cable.

   Bowden cable

   1. 9.1  Tighten nut -1-  until the specified adjustment dimension is reached.

      Dimension C > Length 25 mm 

   2. 9.2  Shorten projecting thread -Arrow-  to the same height as the nut using side cutters.
   3. 9.3  Cover nut with adhesive felt -2-  .
10. Press joint on the cover into the seat shell -Arrows-  and secure it by tapping gently (with a plastic hammer).

11. Align the cover -2-  inside and press Velcro fasteners -1-  on firmly. -Arrows-  .

    Only complete the following step when replacing the cover. 

13. Cut out cover for height adjuster.

    1. 13.1  Feel the corners -Arrows-  of the cut-out -1-  and fit it into the corners using needles.
    2. 13.2  Cut out cover -3-  between the points.
14. -1-  Clip in height adjustment switch. -Arrow-

15. Connect plug connection for height adjuster.

    1. 15.1  Connect plug connection -1-  .
    2. 15.2  Clip in line. -Arrows- 
16. Remove adhesive tape.
