Removing Hydraulic Unit

Always switch off the ignition when working on the hydraulic unit!
Information
- When fitting the hydraulic connections, leave electric plug connections connected to the control units for as long as possible. This prevents the electric plug connections from being splashed with brake fluid or water.
- Wipe off damp electric plug connections before disconnecting them. Use appropriate protection for electric plug connections if necessary.
- Brake fluid on electric contacts (even thinned brake fluid) causes corrosion and can result in faults in the system.
- Do not bend the brake lines in the hydraulic unit area.
- Clean connection points of the brake lines, but not with cleaning agents.
- Rinse off any brake fluid emerging thoroughly with water.
- Disconnect brake lines -2-

- 1.1 Mark three brake lines -2- to prevent them from being confused.
- 1.2 Unscrew union nuts -1- .
- 1.3 Pull brake lines -2- out of the bores and close them off immediately using suitable stoppers.
- 1.4 Lay brake lines -2- aside carefully , securing them if necessary.
Disconnecting brake lines
- Only for PHEV vehicles:
Release return line -1-

Return line (PHEV only)
- 2.1 Loosen union nut on the return line -2- and counter at the hydraulic unit at the same time.
- 2.2 Pull return line -1- out of the bore and close off return line -1- and bore immediately using suitable stoppers. Soak up any emerging brake fluid using suitable aids.
- 2.3 Carefully move the return line -1- aside and secure it if necessary.
- Disconnect supply lines -3-

- 3.1 Mark one supply line -3- to prevent it from being connected incorrectly.
- 3.2 Collect emerging brake fluid.
- 3.3 Unscrew union nuts -4- .
- 3.4 Pull supply lines -3- out of the bores and close them off immediately with suitable stoppers.
- 3.5 Lay supply lines -3- aside carefully , securing them if necessary.
Detaching supply lines
- Unclip electric line -5-
from the line bracket -6-

Unclipping electric line
- Remove hydraulic unit -4-

Removing hydraulic unit
- 5.1 Pull hydraulic unit -4- out of the rubber mounts until the electric plug connection is accessible.
- 5.2 Release and pull off electric plug connection.
- 5.2.1 Press clip -1- downwards.
- 5.2.2 Push lever -2- upwards
- 5.2.3 Remove electric plug connection.
- 5.3 Remove hydraulic unit -4- through the engine compartment.
