Replacing Power-Steering Gear: Notes

Universal joint mounting

1. 1.1 Unscrew screw -2-  and replace it.
2. 1.2 Pull universal joint off the pin on the steering gear and slide it towards the steering column.

Mounting for tie-rod ball on wheel bearing housing

1. 3.1 Unscrew nut -2-  on joint pin for the tie-rod ball as far as required so that it is flush with the upper edge of the joint pin.
2. 3.2 Press off joint pin for tie-rod ball using > T10187 - press-out tool.  > Pressing off joint pin

3. 3.3 Unscrew nut -2-  from joint pin for the tie-rod ball.

Electric connectors on power-steering gear

1. 4.1 Release and disconnect cable plug -3-. 
2. 4.2 Loosen bracket -4-.

Screw joint for secondary bearing on power-steering gear

1. 5.1 Unscrew screw -1-  and counter at the hexagon nut -2-. 
2. 5.2 Replace threaded connection.

Get another person to hold the power-steering gear.
