Removing Ignition Coils For Cylinders 1 To 4

Information 

Poorly accessible electrical connectors (e.g., on fuel injectors) can be released with the > 3438 - hook  .

-I.-  Pull out the fuse -1-  with the > 3438 - hook-2-Arrow A-  .

-II.-  Actuate the locking mechanism -3-  with the > 3438 - hook-2-Arrow B-  and pull out electric plug -4-  at the same time -Arrow C-  .

Using special tool VAG 3438

1. Expose the cable duct.
   1. 1.1 Unscrew screws -1 and 2-  , loosen bracket for torque support -3-  and secure it at a suitable position with a tie-wrap.
   2. 1.2 Release vent line -4-  , disconnect it and wedge it behind the aluminum strut.

2. Detach cable duct.
   1. 2.1 Release and disconnect cable plugs -1-  for ignition coils for cylinders 1 to 4.
   2. 2.2 Release and disconnect cable plugs -2-  for fuel injectors for cylinders 1 to 4.
   3. 2.3 Release and disconnect cable plug -3-  for valve lift on outlet camshaft.
   4. 2.4 Release and disconnect cable plug -4-  on hall sender for outlet camshaft.
   5. 2.5 Release and disconnect cable plug -5-  for valve lift on intake camshaft.
   6. 2.6 Release and disconnect cable plug -6-  on fuel pressure sensor.
   7. 2.7 Loosen and remove nuts -7-  .

3. Remove ignition coils for cylinders 1 to 4.
   1. 3.1 Loosen and unscrew screws -1-  on ignition coils -2-  .
   2. 3.2 Tie up cable duct -4-  with a tie-wrap -3-  .
   3. 3.3 Remove ignition coils -2-  .
