Removing Ignition Coils For Cylinders 5 To 8

Information 

• > 9866 - Support can be fitted instead of the torque support for better access in the engine compartment. 
• Engine can then be moved to the left or right by turning it at the  > 9866 - support hexagon (SW 17).

Modification of special tool 9866

• The special tool  > 9866 - support must be modified for use in the Panamera G2. 
• Saw off individual components at the dashed lines and de-burr them. 
• Change the labelling of the tool to 9866/2 -arrow- using numbering stamps. 
• It may no longer be possible to use the tool on other vehicles. 
• Purchase another special tool  > 9866 - support if necessary. 

  This measure applies temporarily until the special tool  > 9866/2 - support is available. 

Information 

Poorly accessible electrical connectors (e.g., on fuel injectors) can be released with the > 3438 - hook  .

-I.-  Pull out the fuse -1-  with the > 3438 - hook-2-Arrow A-  .

-II.-  Actuate the locking mechanism -3-  with the > 3438 - hook-2-Arrow B-  and pull out electric plug -4-  at the same time -Arrow C-  .

Using special tool VAG 3438

1. Expose the cable duct.
   1. 1.1 Release and pull off vent lines -5-  at the connections -4-  .
   2. 1.2 Vehicles without hybrid drive:  Release vacuum line -3-  at the connection points to the vacuum pump and brake booster connection -1-  , pull it off and unclip it from the bracket -2-  . Guide vacuum line out of the engine compartment.

2. Detach cable duct -5-  .
   1. 2.1 Unlock and pull off cable plug -1 to 3-  .
      1. 2.1.1 Pull cable plug -1-  out of the bracket and set it aside.
      2. 2.1.2 Release and disconnect cable plug -2-  for valve lift on outlet camshaft.
      3. 2.1.3 Release and disconnect cable plugs -3-  for fuel injectors for cylinders 5 to 8.
   2. 2.2 Loosen and unscrew nuts -4-  .

   3. 2.3 Unlock and pull off cable plug -6 to 9-  .
      1. 2.3.1 Release and disconnect cable plug -6-  on fuel pressure sensor.
      2. 2.3.2 Pull cable plug -7-  to the left and off the bracket and disconnect plug connection. Disconnect cable terminal from fuel line.
      3. 2.3.3 Release and disconnect cable plug -8-  for valve lift on intake camshaft.
      4. 2.3.4 Release and disconnect cable plugs -9-  for ignition coils for cylinders 5 to 8.

3. Remove ignition coils for cylinders 5 to 8.
   1. 3.1 Bend cable duct -1-  to the left at the top -Arrow-  .
   2. 3.2 Loosen and unscrew screws -2-  on ignition coils -3-  .
   3. 3.3 Remove ignition coils -3-  .
