Installing Seat Position Sensor

Incorrect handling of safety bolts

- Loss of torque
→ Always use new screws or nuts following removal.
→ Comply with instructions for repairs.
→ Observe specified tightening torques.
→ Carry out a visual inspection of parts used.
Information
When installing the seat, make sure that the counterplate remains in position.
- Crimp sensor onto wiring harness.
- Insulate crimped points with shrink-fit hose.
- Wrap fabric tape around the wiring harness in the shrink-fit hose area.
- Fit new screw for sensor. Position and tighten sensor > Tightening torque 1.1 Nm (0.5 ftlb.) +/- 0.2 Nm (0.1 ftlb.)
- Clean lower rail in the backing plate area thoroughly and remove grease.
- Pull off protective paper on adhesive strip on backing plate and affix backing plate.
- Install seat.

- Check the position of the backing plate and make sure it is fitted securely.
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if necessary.
- Select the Airbag control unit in the overview . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
- Select Actual values/input signals.
- Select Seat position sensor . Press F12 to continue.
- Move the seat all the way forward and all the way back electrically. The displayed value must change when the seat is moved.
- Read out the fault memory and delete any fault entries.
