Installing Oxygen Sensor Downstream Of Catalytic Convert Er On Cylinder Bank 2
- Damage to oxygen sensors
- Different exhaust emission behavior
→ Do not remove the plastic cap on the thread until just prior to fitting.
→ Protect oxygen sensors from impact of any kind.
→ Do not kink or twist the cables when screwing in the sensors.
→ Do not re-use dirty or damaged components.
- Risk of damage to components due to over-heating
→ Check that the heat shields are screwed on fully.
→ Check that the heat shields overlap fully and without gaps.
→ Do not put pressure (body weight, tools) on heat shields.
→ Store removed components in a safe place.
→ Replace damaged or deformed heat shields and safety clips.
- Risk of damage to components due to reduced cooling performance
→ Before starting the engine, make sure that all air-supply components are completely fitted.
→ Only start the engine when the heat shields and design cover are fitted.
→ Only test-drive the vehicle when all underbody panelling, heat shields and the design cover are fitted.
Information
- When re-installing oxygen sensors, only grease the thread with lubricant (see PET).
- Make si re that the lubricant does not get into the slits in the sensor body.
- New oxygen sensors have already been greased and the thread is fitted with a protection cap.
- Install oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter on cylinder bank 2.
- 1.1 Grease thread of oxygen sensor with hot screw paste before installation.
- 1.1.1 Make sure that the paste does not get into the slits in the sensor body.
- 1.2 Screw in oxygen sensor -2- and tighten using > T10491 - socket a/f 22 .
- 1.3 Clip line into the cable clamps -1- and guide cable plug downwards.

- 1.1 Grease thread of oxygen sensor with hot screw paste before installation.
- Secure cable plug for oxygen sensor from the vehicle underbody.
