Removing Control Unit For Steering Wheel Electronics: Notes
- Malfunction in driver's airbag unit
→ When removing and installing the steering-column switch, turn the steering wheel so that the wheels are in straight-ahead position. This ensures that the airbag contact unit is locked in the central position.
→ Do not trap the cable of the airbag contact unit.
→ Check that the cable is routed correctly.
- Risk of damage to electrical load or to the control unit
→ Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key outside of the transmission range (at least 5 m).
→ Switch off electrical loads before disconnecting or removing them.
Information
Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!
- Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work.
- Do not remove new part from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation and only at the installation position.
- Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts.
Information
The airbag contact unit and steering-angle sensor are integrated in the steering wheel electronics control unit and cannot be replaced separately.
