Assembling Rear Shock Absorber (PASM)

Information

A soapy solution can be used for fitting the rubber stop in the boot.

Fit rubber stop into spring-strut mount and boot.
Clamp shock absorber in a vice using aluminium protective jaws.
Position spring-strut mount with rubber stop and boot on the shock absorber.
Align spring-strut mount at a 90° angle -X- with respect to the lower spring-strut mount.

Aligning spring-strut mount
Screw on and tighten nut using > 3353 - socket-wrench insert-1- and counter at the hexagon on the piston rod at the same time.
> Tightening torque 35 Nm

Nut on piston rod (PASM)
Push on grommet for spring-strut mount and connector housing.
Information
- The release tool is contained in the following tool set: > VAS 1978/35-33 - Release Tool Set
- The numbering of the slots is shown on the connector housing.
Install connector housing.
1. 7.1 Insert green line in slot 1.
2. 7.2 Insert brown line in slot 2.
3. 7.3 Lock secondary lock using VAS 1978/17 .
Release shock absorber from the vice.
