Remove Rear Shock Absorber

CAUTION:
Wheel carrier raised incorrectly
- Risk of squashing
- Risk of damage to components
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels).
Information
Recommendation for workshops replacing shock absorbers/spring dampers:
- Dampers can be replaced separately up to a mileage of 30, 000 km or 3 years.
- If the mileage is > 30, 000 km or the components are more than 3 years old, we recommend replacing them in pairs.
- Lift up wheel bearing housing.
Mounting for support T10149
- 1.1 Turn the wheel hub so that a bore for a wheel bolt is at the top.
- 1.2 Secure > T10149 - support to the wheel hub using a wheel bolt -Arrow- .
- 1.3 > T10149 - support must be inserted into the > VAS 6931 - transmission and engine jack.
- 1.4 Lift up wheel bearing housing.
- Only for vehicles with PASM:
Disconnect PASM line from bracket -1- and release and disconnect electric plug connection -2- .
Electric plug connection for PASM
- Unscrew screws -1-
at the top of shock absorber -2-

Upper shock-absorber mount
- Release locking lugs -1-
and remove stone guard -2-
.
Stone guard
- Remove shock absorber -1-
.
Lower shock-absorber mount
- 5.1 Unscrew screw -2- and remove washer -3- .
- 5.2 Remove shock absorber -1- by pulling it downwards.
