Installing Rear Wheel Bearing

Press the wheel hub into the wheel bearing.

Fitting wheel hub in wheel bearing
1. Press tool
2. > VW402 - Thrust plate
3. Wheel hub
4. Wheel bearing
5. > VW401 - Thrust plate
1. 1.1 Fit special tools -1, 2 and 5- as shown in > Fitting wheel hub in wheel bearing .
2. 1.2 Press wheel hub -3- into wheel bearing -4- .
Install wheel bearing unit -5- in wheel bearing housing -6- .

Wheel bearing unit on wheel bearing housing
1. 2.1 Clamp the wheel bearing housing -6- in a vice with aluminium protective jaws.
2. 2.2 Fit wheel bearing unit -5- on wheel bearing housing -6- .
3. 2.3 Replace screws on wheel bearing unit -1 to 4- .
4. 2.4 Screw in and tighten screws on wheel bearing unit in the sequence -1 to 4- .
  > Initial - tightening 80 Nm (59 ftlb.)
  
  > Final tightening + 90°
