Replacing Bearing For Trailing Arm (On Wheel Bearing Housing)

Information 

IMPORTANT: Bearing is tensioned when pressing it out!
  1. Remove bearing.
    1. 1.1 Fit pressure plate T40184/2  on the bearing and make sure that the nubs -1-  engage in the grooves -2-  .

    2. 1.2 Position wheel bearing housing on pressure piece T40184/1  .
    3. 1.3 Press out bearing using pressure plate T40184/2  .

    Arrangement of tools: Press-out process

    Information 

    The bearing is pre-tensioned by pressing in the pressure piece T40184/3  (inner wall of the pressure piece is conical). This is necessary so that the bearing can be pressed into the bearing sleeve.

  2. Install new  bearing.
    1. 2.1 Position pressure piece T40184/3  on > VW401 - Pressure plate  and > VW402 - Pressure plate. 
    2. 2.2 Using pressure plate T40184/2  , press bearing into pressure piece T40184/3  .

      After pressing it in, the bearing must project by approx. 5 mm  at the lower side of the pressure piece T40184/3  .

    3. 2.3 Position wheel bearing housing on pressure piece T40184/1  .
    4. 2.4 Position bearing on wheel bearing housing using pressure piece T40184/3  .

    5. 2.5 Press bearing as far as required into the wheel bearing housing using pressure plate T40184/2  until it is flush with the edge -arrow-  .
