Removing Fuel Pump

WARNING: Toxic substances

Danger of poisoning or suffocation

1. → Ventilate the work area well.
2. → Never ingest or inhale.
3. → Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
4. → Wear personal protective gear.
5. → Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of tire or explosion
1. → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
2. → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
3. → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
4. → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
5. → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

Information

The fuel system must be depressurized before starting work on it.
Only work on the fuel system in well-ventilated rooms.
Any seals that were removed must always be replaced.
Do not use any sealant containing silicone or silicone spray when the injection system is open. Traces of silicone drawn in by the engine are not combusted and damage the oxygen sensors.
Catch escaping fuel using suitable aids and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws.

Information

The guiding rod of the fuel level sender must not be deformed.
If the guiding rod is deformed, the fuel level sender must be replaced.

Fold protective mat -1- aside and open fuel pump cover -2- .

Disconnect connections on fuel pump -1- .

Fuel pump connections
1. 2.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -2 and 3- .
2. 2.2 Lift line bracket -4- out of the guide and set it aside.
3. 2.3 Release fuel lines -5 and 6- , disconnect them and set them aside.
Mark the position of the lock -1- before opening it using a coloured pen.

Marking lock
Loosen lock -1- using > T10202 - wrench-2- in -direction of arrow- and remove it.

Remove fuel pump -1- with seal -2- (-Arrow- ).

Only for fuel pump with sucking jet pump -1- .

Fuel pump with sucking jet pump
1. 6.1 Guide fuel pump as far as the chamber -2- out of the fuel tank -Arrow- .
2. 6.2 Unclip sucking jet pump -1- from the chamber -2- , release line and disconnect it.
3. 6.3 Remove fuel pump and pull sucking Jet pump -1- with line -3- out of the tank.
Set the fuel pump -1- (and sucking jet pump, if used) down on a clean surface.
