Draining Fuel Using Fuel Transfer Unit

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
1. → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
2. → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
3. → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
4. → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
5. → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

WARNING: Caustic fluids

Danger of chemical burns
1. → Wear personal protective gear.
2. → Ensure that there is good ventilation.
3. → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
4. → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

NOTIFICATION

Fuel can leak out when flange cover Is removed when fuel tank Is full

Danger of fire, explosion or contact with fuel
1. → If the fuel tank is full, approx. 20 liters of fuel must first be pumped out.
2. → This procedure is performed by selecting the "Drain fuel tank" function using PIWIS Tester 3.

Place protective covers on the vehicle.

Prepare fuel transfer unit.

2.1 Connect fuel hose -1- to the changeover tank.
2.2 Connect venting device (transparent hose) -2- .
2.3 Attach pneumatic stop switch -3- to the tank and secure with two knurled nuts.

2.4 Connect suction hose to the connection -1- .

Fuel transfer system

Information

The earth cable must be connected to a ground point on the vehicle during the entire working time!

Connect earth cable to a ground point on the vehicle.
Extract fuel using > VAS 5190A - fuel extractor or > VAS 5190A - fuel extractor .
1. 4.1 Insert suction hose into the fuel tank.
2. 4.2 Drain the fuel.
  1. 4.2.1 Set changeover lever to "Extract fuel/Pump out vehicle".
  2. 4.2.2 Switch on the pump and extract the required amount of fuel.
