Installing Cylinder Head Cover - Right Cylinder Bank

Information 

For installation, the crankshaft must be locked in position.

1. Replace seal.
2. Oil the running surfaces of the camshafts.
3. Check that hydraulic tappets and valve levers are fitted correctly.

   Information 

   • The liquid sealant Loctite 5970-BM must be used. 
   • The bead of sealant you apply must not be thicker than the prescribed thickness. Excess sealant can block the lubrication system. 
   • Sealant must not get into the threaded bores. 
   • The cylinder head cover must be installed within 5 minutes of applying the sealant 
4. Carefully apply continuous beads of sealant -1-  with a thickness of 3 mm all the way around on the sealing faces of the cylinder head cover.

5. Install cylinder head cover -21-  .

   1. 5.1  Insert > T40116 - locating pins  through the bores in the cylinder head cover -21-  and screw them into the cylinder head.
   2. 5.2  Position cylinder head cover -21-  on > T40116 - locating pins  on the cylinder head.
   3. 5.3 Screw in and tighten new  screws on cylinder head cover -1 to 20-  .
   • Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 
   • Torque angle + 90° 
6. Connect and lock cable plugs for camshaft sensors -1-  .

7. Install holder for solenoid valves -1-  .

   1. 7.1  Fit holder -1-  .
   2. 7.2  Screw on and tighten nuts on holder -3-  .
      • Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) 
   3. 7.3  Fit solenoid valves -2-  on holder -1-  .
