Installing Drive Belt For Air-Conditioning Compressor

WARNING: Rotating components

Danger of limbs being trapped or severed
→ Disconnect power supply to the drive motor of components or to the battery.

NOTIFICATION

Drive belt removed incorrectly

Risk of damage to drive belt
1. → Only remove the drive belt when it is cold.
2. → Replace damaged drive belt.

NOTIFICATION

Drive belt breaks and becomes jammed

Risk of damage to components (trim panels, electric cables, etc.)
Leaks at the crankshaft vibration damper sealing ring
Vibration damper can overheat and lose its strength
1. → Following belt breakage, check adjacent components and the interior of the engine compartment for damage. Repair or replace damaged parts.
2. → Find out why the belt broke. Check deflection rollers or crankshaft vibration dampers for prior damage.
3. → If the drive belt is jammed, replace the vibration damper.

Install drive belt for air-conditioning compressor -1- .

Tensioning device for air-conditioning compressor drive belt
1. 1.1 Replace screw on tensioning device for air-conditioning compressor.
2. 1.2 Fit drive belt for air-conditioning compressor -1- on the pulleys and align it along the grooves of the pulleys. Check the rolling direction of the drive belt for the generator while doing this.
3. 1.3 To tension the air-conditioning compressor drive belt -1- , swivel the tensioning device -2- at the Torx splines -3- anticlockwise as far as it will go -Arrow- and keep the tensioning device -2- tensioned until the final tightening torque is reached.
4. 1.4 Tighten new screw for tensioning device for air-conditioning compressor -4- .
  - Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)
5. 1.5 Check that drive belt for air-conditioning compressor -1- is seated and tensioned correctly.
