Installing Locking Cable

Information 

• Loosen clamping screw for locking cable by only about 1 turn.
• The clamping screw is only accessible in selector-lever position "P".
• When the clamping screw is loosened, the selector lever must remain in position "P".

Information 

Do not apply lateral forces to the selector knob pull rod as it can break off.

1. Install locking cable -1-  .

   Locking cable

   1. 1.1  Position locking cable 1  together with holder.
   2. 1.2  Fit and tighten screws on locking cable holder -3-  .

      > Tightening - torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 

   3. 1.3  Secure ball socket -2-  .
2. Secure locking cable 1  to selector support

   Safety clip for locking cable

   1. 2.1  Guide locking cable -1-  into selector support -2-  and engage safety clip -2-  .
3. Install heat shield -1-  .

   1. 3.1  Position heat shield -1-  .
   2. 3.2  Tighten clamping washers -2- 
4. Secure transmission support 2  .

   Transmission support

   1. 4.1  Lift transmission and transmission support using > VAS 6931 - engine and gearbox jack  .
   2. 4.2  Fit and tighten screws -1 - and 3-  .

      > Tightening - torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.) 

   3. 4.3  > VAS 6931 - Engine and gearbox jack  must now be removed
5. Tighten clamping screw for locking cable 1  using > T40031 - socket insert a/f 5-2-  .

   > Tightening - torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

6. Install insulating mat -1-  .

   2. 6.2  Connect and lock cable plug -2- 
7. Install switch console holder 1  .
