Function Test

  1. Move selector lever from position "P" to "D" and from position "D" to "M" and back again several times.
  2. Check that the parking lock is disengaged.
    1. 2.1  Switch on the ignition.
    2. 2.2  Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    3. 2.3  Actuate the service brake.
    4. 2.4  Start the engine.
    5. 2.5  Move selector lever to position "D". "D" appears in the instrument cluster.
    6. 2.6  Release the service brake. If the vehicle moves forward, the test is complete. Otherwise, all connecting pieces must be checked again.
  3. Check that the parking lock is engaged (engine running). 
    1. 3.1  Switch on the ignition
    2. 3.2  Move selector lever to position "P", "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    3. 3.3  Actuate the service brake.
    4. 3.4  Start the engine.
    5. 3.5  Release the service brake. The vehicle must not move. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
    6. 3.6  Switch off engine.
  4. Check that the parking lock is engaged (blocking effect).
    1. 4.1  Switch on the ignition.
    2. 4.2  Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    3. 4.3  Move selector lever to position "N". "N" appears in the instrument cluster.
    4. 4.4  Get another person to help you to push the vehicle for a distance of at least one metre. It must be possible to move the vehicle. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
    5. 4.5  Actuate the service brake.
    6. 4.6  Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster
    7. 4.7  Get another person to help you to push the vehicle. The vehicle must not move (a max. movement of 150 mm is acceptable). Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
