Installing Roof Assembly (Panoramic Roof)

  1. Installation is performed in reverse order. Pay particular attention to the following:
  2. Position roof assembly (panoramic roof) in installation position.
    1. 2.1  Guide roof assembly (panoramic roof) through the rear lid into the passenger compartment with the help of another person.
    2. 2.2  Press roof assembly (panoramic roof) up and position it.
    3. 2.3  Screw in screws -3-  so that the roof assembly (panoramic roof) can still be moved slightly.
    4. 2.4  Move roof assembly (panoramic roof) until the locating bores -4-  are free.
    5. 2.5  Position roof assembly (panoramic roof) at the locating bores -4-  using punches > Diameter 10 mm  .

  3. Check that the outer seal is positioned correctly.
  4. Secure roof assembly (panoramic roof).
    1. 4.1  Tighten screws -3-  from front to rear in alternating sequence from left and right to > Tightening - torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 
    2. 4.2  Remove punches -4-  from the roof assembly (panoramic roof).

  5. Tighten screws -1-  on the supports -2-  at the sides to > Tightening - torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .

Support

  1. Open the glass sunroof.
  2. Clean ducts on the guide rails.

    Cleaning areas

    1. 2.1  Clean the marked area -1-  .
    2. 2.2  Clean the ducts on the guide rails using cleaning solution and primer applicator or standard workshop paper towels -2-  .
    3. 2.3  Dry the ducts on the guide rails using workshop-available paper towels -3-  .

    Information 

    The subsequent work is described for one side as an example. The subsequent work on the other side is almost identical.

  3. Fit butyl lock -4-  .

    Butyl lock

    1. 3.1  Cut two pieces of 20 mm of butyl cord.
    2. 3.2  Press the first 20 mm of butyl cord into the guide rail channel completely using a plastic wedge.
      1. 3.2.1  Make sure that the channel is closed off inside.
    3. 3.3  Affix a second piece of 20 mm butyl cord over the top.
      1. 3.3.1  Make sure that the butyl lock completely seals -4-  the duct on the guide rail.
